Causeway Comprehensive School Annual Awards Night 2025
Each year at Causeway Comprehensive School, we look forward to celebrating the success and accomplishments of our students. This year, we were delighted to invite all students, family members, teachers and staff to the event. Having everyone together to celebrate the success, hard work and dedication of the students of Causeway Comprehensive School made it a very special evening.
We presented close to 150 awards to students on Tuesday 21st May. The awards were presented by staff of Causeway Comprehensive, Year Heads, Principal Cathal Fitzgerald, Deputy Principals Jennifer Barry and Tadhg Flynn as well as invited guests, John O’Regan ( Former Principal), Eileen Donegan and Ann Sheehan.
Milo Cronin received the Principal Award for Outstanding Student of the Year in Leaving Certificate and Katie Foley was the Principal Award for Outstanding Student at Junior Cycle. Emma Dillane received the Canon Willie O'Connor Award for achieving the highest results in Irish in Leaving Certificate 2024 with Eileen Donegan representing the O’Connor Family. Caio Ferreira de Paula received the John O' Regan Award for achieving outstanding results in the Leaving Certificate overall, reaching 602 points. Caio was unable to attend due to exams in Trinity College. Rebecca Mannix won the Lucille O'Sullivan Award for his resilience and personal growth. Eoin Lawlor won the Student Council Award in memory of the late Leonard O Donnell. Molly Duignan won the Ethos and Spirit of the School Award in memory of the late Eileen Sheehan, whose family has made a major contribution to the school. The award was presented by Ann Sheehan.
There were many other awards presented on the night for areas including Sport, Lunchtime activities, Fundraising, Music, Culture, Attendance, and Diligence and Achievement. Ivan Conway won the Senior Footballer of the Year Award and Aidan Mahony won the Senior Hurling Award. While Joe Lovett received the Senior Basketball Player award and Shayne Stack won the Senior Soccer Award. In the female section of our Sports awards, Leagh Mai Griffin won the Senior Football Award, Shannon Collins won the Senior Camogie award, Lily Stack the Senior Basketball Player of the Year Award.
The Junior award for music was presented to Lucas Conway and the Senior music award went to Ruairi O’Connor. The Junior art award was given to Abbie Lynch, and the Senior art award went to Mary Reidy. Veronica Paprocka and Fionn Guerin won awards for their participation in the School Musical which took place last November. Fundraising awards were also presented to Jodie Fitzpatrick and Holly Harrington who both made great efforts in fundraising for charity this year.
School Principal Cathal Fitzgerald stated “It was wonderful to see approximately 450 people in attendance in our sports hall. These awards demonstrate the huge commitment by staff and students to our school, and the variety of talent within Causeway Comprehensive School”.
