Tuesday

Well done to the U19 boys basketball team today who played in the All Ireland Schools Quarter Final Playoffs in Galway today. The boys had a very tough assignment in the opening game against Athlone CC who boasted the MVP from the U18 National Cup team Dublin Lions, Causeway put in a monumental effort to shut him down and played some really good basketball to run out 52-38 winners.
This set up a straight knockout with host School Clarin College Galway who had earlier defeated Athlone by 3. Causeway dusted themselves down and after only a 15 minute rest took on the All Ireland Cup Runners up. With some outstanding defense and clever offence, Causeway led throughout and were 5 up heading to the final quarter. They say games turn in moments and the 4th Quarter certainly went that way with the Galway school having fresher legs coming down the stretch and their shots suddenly hitting the spot. Causeway lost two to cramp in the fourth and couldn't wrestle back momentum from the Galway school who had a massive home support. The game ended in favour of the Galway school on a score of 48-34 which was certainly not a reflection of the contest. We wish the Galway school all the best in the All Ireland Semi Final. A special mention to Ben OConnor, Peter O Mahony, Jake Segal and captain Fionn Houlihan who played their last games for the school today. They have collected 4 regional titles all the way up since first year as well as An All Ireland Cup medal and two quarter final appearances. A huge achievement for all concerned. Many thanks to all the players as well as their Coach Mr O’Connor for all his time and effort.

Well done to our 2nd years girls football who played against ISK Killorglin today. Great effort by all in difficult conditions but unfortunately we came up short.

Thursday

Well done to the Senior Footballers who put in a marvellous performance Vs Kilrush CS today to progress to the Munster Final. An amazing achievement for this group who are the first senior (U19) football team in 23 years to make a Munster final. We have had numerous success over the years at First, U15, U17 but U19 has always been elusive so this is a huge occasion for the team. We look forward to the build up and the final itself. Details to follow.

Friday

Our u15 hurlers Munster championship came to a premature end on Friday when they lost to a talented SMI Newcastle West side in UL. Despite th disappointing end to their season these lads will learn lots from this laying at such a high standard and will no doubt take valuable lessons for upcoming campaigns.
