The Leaving Certificate :
Students who decide to take the Leaving Certificate Programme, will take the following subjects over a 2 year cycle
Core Subjects : English, Maths, Irish, PE, RE, SPHE( including RSE), LCW*
Option Subjects : Students can pick any FOUR of the following subjects :
Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Agri Science, Business, Accounting, Economics, French, Spanish, History, Geography, Applied Maths, Engineering, Construction Studies, DCG, LCPE, Home Economics, Music, Art
Note :
*LCW - Life, Community & Work (LCW) is a subject that replaces LCVP in Sept. 2026 in tthe revised Senior Cycle subjects) all 5th year and 6th year students have the option to take this subject.
The purpose of this subject is for the preparation of work and therefore, students learn to create a CV, complete work experience, complete a career investigation etc. The Assessment is at a common level (no higher or ordinary levels) Students sit a terminal examination paper, representing 40% of the total marks. Students submit a portfolio of coursework, representing 60% of total marks, developed over the two years of the programme and submitted at the end of the final year of the LCW. This subject will have 2 hours on a subjects timetable.

The Leaving Certificate Applied (LCA)
This programme is a 2 year cycle and involves a work experience on Wednesdays. See LCA page on website for further details
Transition Year (TY)
This programme is a One year programme which involved Senior Cycle subject sampling, extra curricular events and experiences, work experience, trips, certified course and memories for a life time. (Maths , English and Irish are also on students timetable.)
