Causeway Comprehensive School is delighted to announce a laptop ‘initiative for 5th years. Over the years, Causeway CS has developed student’s IT skills through the teaching and learning of ICT during the Junior Cycle as well as Transition year. As your child is now enter Senior Cycle, students will be engaging in a lot of ICT both at school and at home. This will come in a variety of formats via project work for state exam, preparation work, research work, study skills and methods etc. The landscape for the Leaving Certificate course has changed over the years and will continue to embrace ICT. This is very evident in college where students use laptops instead of pen and paper as well as E-books. After consultation with staff, student council, parent council and the Board of Management, the school has decided to engaged with a company called Wriggle, who are one of the market leaders in providing devices (laptops) for second level schools. They presently deal with over 130 schools around Ireland.
It has been agreed that students entering 5th year in September will now have the option to purchase a laptop from Wriggle under their Wriggle 1:1 Device proposal. This device will be allowed to be used in school and at home and will support students in their learning over the next two years and of course students can then use it for college or in the world of work etc. The laptop on offer is a Lenovo 300W 2-in-1 Laptop, which is a touch screen and folds as a tablet and has a pen included. The price also includes a 2-year warranty with service and support, use of Office 365, access to e-books, tech support and hard cover for the device is included in the price. Payments can be either by month instalments over a one or two-year period or one full payment
